I think @paul’s suggestion of Ted Turner is particularly good, if only because I know his story is ridiculously ballsy and colourful — IIRC, at one point he was at risk of going under, and I can’t remember the exact circumstances, but I believe a consortium of his cable competitors had to bail him out.
