“This One Can Make Money Or Not?” - Commoncog

This marks the end of the Asian Conglomerate Series.

We’ve studied a whole bunch of Asian tycoons over the past year. These include:

A note of appreciation:

The Asian Conglomerate series has been the highlight of Commoncog for me since it began - it featured activity and behavior I recognize (on a smaller scale) while offering a view of operators and contexts that I either didn’t understand or hadn’t been exposed to

It has helped me make decisions that are at least a few degrees more commercial than they might have been, and it has shifted my point of view, to the tune of, “Well, these tycoons faced conditions more difficult than I’m likely to see, and figured out how to make more money than I can wrap my mind around, so why not try, and see what happens? Why not me?”

Thanks for all the time and effort!

Thanks, @mgoodrum. I had no idea this was a highlight for you!

It was fun (and very fulfilling) for me to produce this series, even if most of our metrics take a dive whenever we publish an instalment of the series.

I’m very, very happy to hear this made a change in your worldview. Writing it has definitely changed me as well.

I think the preceding “chinese businessman” writing was one of the things that got me to really start paying attention to commoncog.

Echoing @mgoodrum , for me the Asian tycoon series is also a highlight!

I have to admit I didn’t read every installment. But what I did was soo well-researched, well-reflected upon, and detailed that I learned a lot more about the foundations of making money than from many other sources.

And I also felt the inspiration of “if they can manage under much harder circumstances, then I might achieve more in business as well”.
